Ending your Occupancy
If you wish to end your occupancy you need to carry out the following steps:
Inform Us You Are Leaving
Normally you are required to give NCHA at least 4 weeks notice before leaving. However, if this would cause you difficulties and you discuss this with your Housing Officer, this period can sometimes be shortened. You can give NCHA notice either by speaking to or writing to your support worker or Housing Officer.
Complete A Termination Form
Termination Dates should be on a Sunday (normally the Sunday 4 weeks after you have informed us).
Please ensure you have completed and returned the form to your support worker or Housing Officer at least 2 weeks before you leave (to ensure we can contact you if there are any questions)

If NCHA do not receive your keys by this date you may be charged an additional weeks rent at the full weekly rate, and you may be charged for any cost incurred for lock changes to the property.
Leave The Property In A Good State Under the terms of your occupancy agreement, you are responsible for the good condition of your property. A charge may be made for any deliberate damage caused. An officer from NCHA may carry out an inspection on the property before you leave.
Before you leave, we expect you to:
- Vacuum or sweep the floors
- Clean the bathroom (if applicable)
- Wipe kitchen surfaces (if applicable)
- Empty your fridge and cupboards of any food and crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc.
- Empty your bin and dispose of rubbish properly in bins outside
- Inform us of any repairs you are aware of
Remove All Of Your Belongings Take all of your belongings with you including any furniture that belongs to you. Any unwanted items that belong to you should be disposed of appropriately.
If NCHA has to remove or store any belongings you may be charged up to £200. Any belongings will only be stored for a maximum of 28 days before they will be disposed of.
