Care And Support

Contractors

You need to make arrangements to let our contractors in when they are coming to do maintenance or repairs:

  • You should not leave your key hidden somewhere or with someone else for a contractor to let themselves into your home (check with your staff as you may be able to leave your keys with your support worker)
  • You are expected to allow contractors to complete their work by keeping children and pets out of their way and by clearing furniture from where they are working
  • Contractors should not be left in your home on their own with any children (under 16). For example, if you leave your home whilst the contractor is trying to carry out the repair work, any children in your home will have to leave at the same time
  • If furniture or carpets need to be moved, you should get this done before the contractor arrives. They may be willing to help but cannot be held responsible for any damage caused in the process.

What our Contractors should do

Our contractors will deal with you in a professional way. You can expect them to:

  • Introduce themselves and show you their identification before entering
  • Explain what they are going to do and discuss how this will affect you
  • Take care of your property and possessions and protect them from damage, dust and paint
  • Make sure materials and tools do not cause any danger
  • Clear up rubbish and leave the area tidy at the end of the job
  • Reconnect essential services when the repair is completed such as turning the water back on if they’ve just carried out a pipe repair
  • Inform you and your neighbours before starting any outside work

They are not allowed to:
  • Smoke in your home
  • Play radios on site
  • Use your power supply without your consent
